It consists of St. Mary's Church, and a few houses. There is the air traffic of Ridgewell Airfield. (Usually gliders and sometimes military training exercises.) One of the earliest mentions of this place is in the Domesday book where it is mentioned together with Hedingham Castle and listed amongst the lands given to Roger Bigod〔''Domesday Book: A Complete Translation''. London: Penguin, 2003. p. 1036 ISBN 0-14-143994-7〕 by the King. The land given to Roger〔Roger Bigod held a number of manors including a massive number in Suffolk and Norfolk given to him by the King.
